Tehran, Moscow, Beijing Slam US over Iran Riots at UNSC Meeting

During a UN Security Council session, representatives of Iran, Russia, and China sharply criticized the United States over the foreign-backed recent riots, rejecting Washington’s threats of force in Iran’s internal affairs.

The meeting, requested by the United States, addressed recent demonstrations in Iran sparked by severe economic hardships, including soaring inflation and currency collapse, which is mainly caused by the US sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic. The peaceful protests turned into riots following blatant interference by the US and ‘Israel’.

Foreign agents and armed groups damaged public property, including mosques and other infrastructure. According to Iranian authorities, dozens of civilians and security forces have been martyred.

The Islamic Republic’s intelligence services have confirmed that these elements received intelligence, operational, logistical, and financial support from Washington and the Zionist Mossad spy agency.

US: All Options on Table

The US delegation, led by Ambassador Mike Waltz, expressed support for what he called “brave people of Iran” and emphasized that “all options are on the table” to address what it called regime repression.

“Everyone in the world needs to know that the regime is weaker than ever before, and therefore is putting forward this lie because of the power of the Iranian people in the streets. They are afraid. They’re afraid of their own people,” Waltz said.

Iran: US Resorts to Lies

Iran’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gholamhossein Darzi, called it “shameful” that the “the United States regime transferred this esteemed body to a scene for theater.”

“This is in line with the United States regime in dismantling and disgracing the United Nations system,” he added.

Darzi slammed the US for resorting to “lies, distortions of facts, and deliberate disinformation” to mask its “direct involvement in steering unrest in Iran towards violence.”

He highlighted historical US actions against Iran, stating that the Iranian people fully understand the true nature of Washington’s so-called “support”—from the 1953 coup to backing Saddam Hussein’s war against Iran in the 1980s, and the 1988 downing of Iran Air Flight 655, which killed 290 civilians.

Russia, China Stances

For his part, Russia’s Permanent Representative, Vasily Nebenzya, described US rhetoric as “dangerous [and] irresponsible.”

He said “hostile external forces” are exploiting the situation to overthrow the government and destroy Iran’s sovereignty as an independent state.

Nebenzya affirmed that Iran is committed to protecting citizens’ lives, maintaining public order, and safeguarding its territorial integrity, while calling on Washington to cease escalatory actions and stop positioning itself as a “global judge.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China, Geng Shuang, expressed deep concern over rising tensions risking broader conflict in the West Asia region, rejecting threats of force or interference in Iran’s internal affairs.

Beijing urged all parties to exercise restraint and abandon approaches that could push the region toward “the law of the jungle.”
