The House of Parliament began approved a proposal to abolish the death penalty during Tuesday’s legislative session.
The Parliament is also scheduled to amend the Media Law in Lebanon during an evening session as a number of lawmakers, including MP Ibrahim Al-Moussawi, demanded a delay to be able to study the proposal.
At the opening of the session, MP Hussein Hajj Hasan criticized the government procedure of appointing new administrative officers.
In turn, MP Ali Hasan Khalil called on the government to assume its responsibilities regarding South Lebanon.
