The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that its forces conducted overnight group strikes using ground-based precision weapons against military-related infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital, while also reporting separate drone strikes on two dry cargo ships transporting weapons and military equipment to Ukrainian ports.
In a statement, the ministry identified the industrial facility struck in Kiev as the Kiev-111 enterprise, operated by Fire Point LLC, which it said was involved in producing components and warheads for FP-5 Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles.
“This night, the Russian Armed Forces launched a group strike with ground-based precision weapons on a military industry enterprise and a fuel and lubricants depot in the city of Kiev,” the ministry said in a statement.
The overnight operation also targeted a fuel and lubricants depot in Kiev, which, according to the statement, supplied petroleum products to the Ukrainian armed forces—making it a key node in military logistics and supply networks.
In a separate development, the Russian Defense Ministry said strike drones hit two dry cargo ships at sea south and east of Odessa that were reportedly transporting weapons and military equipment to Ukrainian ports. The ministry did not identify the vessels or provide details about their operators, cargoes, or destinations, nor did it specify the extent of damage or whether there were casualties among the crews.
The reported operations underscore Moscow’s continuing focus on disrupting Ukraine’s military production, fuel supplies, and alleged maritime weapons transportation routes.
Earlier on Friday, the Defense Ministry stated that three dry cargo ships involved in transporting military equipment were struck on August 6 by Geran-4 seeker unmanned aerial vehicles—two in the Black Sea east and southeast of Odessa, and a third at a pier in the port of Chernomorsk in the Odessa region. Over the past week, Moscow reported that 34 vessels operating in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been struck, including 31 dry cargo ships and three tugboats.
Beyond maritime operations, the ministry said Friday that high-precision ground-based weapons and attack drones struck fuel and lubricant storage tanks at the port of Yuzhny, including facilities intended for use by Ukrainian forces. In the Dnepropetrovsk region, Russian forces reportedly struck a military equipment train using a Geran UAV and an Iskander tactical missile—with the initial UAV strike immobilizing the locomotive before the missile subsequently struck the train. Additionally, Moscow said a Geran UAV struck a facility in Akhtyrka in the Sumy region where engines for Ukrainian long-range attack drones were being assembled.
The ministry also announced territorial advances, stating that units of the Sever group of forces had taken control of Aniskino, Bely Kolodez, Ustinovka, and Baksheevka in the Kharkov region, as well as Ryzhevka in the Sumy region over the previous week.
