The Israeli military confirmed Wednesday that two reserve soldiers were killed in an explosive device attack in the town of Majdal Zoun, marking the first Israeli military fatalities since June 28, according to official army statements.

Israeli media later detailed that the explosion occurred inside a booby-trapped building in the southern Lebanese town, claiming the lives of two soldiers from the 55th Brigade while wounding seven others.

The attack unfolds against a backdrop of continued Israeli aggression across southern Lebanon, which have included airstrikes, artillery bombardments, home demolitions, cemetery desecrations, and forest fires all of which persist despite ongoing so-called ‘framework agreement’ negotiations and direct talks between the Israeli and Lebanese governments.
Hezbollah resistance movement has placed primary blame for the sustained violence on what it described as “silent, absent, and complicit” Lebanese authorities, saying that the government’s signing of the framework agreement has effectively legitimized Israeli occupation and military actions.
Wednesday’s Escalation
In Wednesday evening’s most significant strikes, Israeli occupation forces targeted the areas of Mansouri, Burj al-Shamali, and the vicinity of Ali al-Taher Heights, resulting in multiple injuries. Simultaneously, a bombing was reported in the town of Haddatha.
The aggression follows Tuesday’s deadly attack on a mosque in Tibnin, which killed one individual and wounded 12 others. Additionally, occupation forces were reported to have set fire to forested areas above the Al-Shamis district, situated between two towers on the outskirts of Kfarshouba, further escalating tensions along the volatile border region.
