The Iranian Foreign Ministry, in a statement issued Saturday evening, affirmed its “appreciation for the armed forces’ continued and powerful defense of Iran’s sovereignty against the illegal threats and attacks of the United States.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized that “Iran will utilize all available means to legitimately defend its rights, interests, and national security against the aggression of the United States and the Zionist entity.” It added that “the continued naval blockade, illegal threats, and attacks on non-civilian infrastructure constitute clear acts of aggression and a violation of the UN Charter.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that “the silence of the Security Council and the inaction of the UN Secretary-General regarding these attacks contradict the legal responsibilities incumbent upon these two institutions.” It pointed to “the role of the United States in destabilizing the security of the Strait of Hormuz and escalating tensions,” and declared that “fabricating pretexts regarding the passage of ships was a cover for military actions and exerting pressure against Iran.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry added that “Tehran affirms its commitment to maintaining friendly relations with neighboring countries and continuing to defend the country’s independence, national dignity, and sovereignty.”
