Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree warned that naval pressure on Saudi oil shipments is intensifying, declaring that eight Saudi tankers were forced to reroute toward the Cape of Good Hope under what he described as a tightened maritime blockade.
In a statement early on Saturday, Brig. Gen. Saree said the move comes “in line with the principle of blockade for blockade,” warning that Yemeni forces will continue targeting Saudi-linked shipping routes and expand their operational reach “wherever possible.”
He stressed that the naval blockade on Saudi oil shipments will persist, adding that the Yemeni Armed Forces are determined to escalate measures until their objectives are achieved.

Saree also praised large-scale public demonstrations across Yemen, saying citizens had taken to squares and public spaces despite heavy rains in support of the campaign.

He pledged that the armed forces would “spare no effort” to end the Saudi blockade imposed on Yemen and restore the country’s rights.
Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies imposed the blockade on Yemen as part of a full-scale military campaign launched on March 26, 2015, with military, political, and logistical backing from the United States and other Western countries.
The war went on to result in the deaths of tens of thousands of Yemenis, but failed to achieve its stated objective of restoring Yemen’s former Riyadh-backed regime to power.
Earlier this month, Riyadh attacked Sanaa International Airport, prompting Yemen to announce a naval siege against Saudi Arabia with immediate effect with the aim of forcing the kingdom to lift the blockade.
