Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said the Lebanese Army remains the central pillar of national unity and stability, stressing its role in defending sovereignty and completing the liberation of Lebanese territory from Israeli occupation.
In a statement marking Army Day on August 1, Speaker Berri said: “For eighty-one years, the Lebanese Army has remained the model tested in unity, identity, belonging, sacrifice, and loyalty,” contrasting it with “fragmented models whose borders are drawn by the Israeli occupier with fire, killing, and destruction.”
He affirmed that “the army is the army of Lebanon and the Lebanese people; it is of them and for them,” describing it as “the focus of their hopes in protecting sovereignty, liberating the land and its people, and preserving stability and civil peace.”

Marking the occasion, the Lebanese speaker extended “greetings of pride and appreciation” to the army’s leadership and personnel, including “commanders, officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, martyrs, and wounded.”
“With you and through you, we protect and rebuild Lebanon and complete the liberation of its land,” he said.
