In the southern city of Khan Younis, a helicopter strike hit a tent belonging to the Balawi family near a local college early Thursday morning, killing two Palestinians including a child and wounding three others, one critically. The attack followed a separate bombardment in the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone on Wednesday evening, where two people were killed and 16 others injured when a tent on Street Five was directly targeted.
Central Gaza witnessed heavy destruction as well. In the Al-Bureij refugee camp, an apartment building opposite the municipal headquarters was leveled, killing a child identified as Zaid Muhammad Nawfal and injuring several other residents. The military also demolished a third residential home in the camp, compounding the displacement crisis in the densely populated enclave.
In Gaza City, an airstrike on an apartment block opposite Al-Ma’mouniya School in the western sector injured eight Palestinians, including children, with one victim listed in critical condition. Al-Shifa Hospital later confirmed the death of a resident from the Zeitoun neighborhood and reported eight additional injuries from a separate strike targeting the Rimal district. Meanwhile, two homes in the Shati refugee camp belonging to the Shamia and Nasr families were destroyed, causing multiple injuries among displaced occupants and triggering widespread structural collapse. A strike near the Baptist Hospital in central Gaza City caused significant property damage but, according to initial reports, no casualties.
Further south, Israeli warplanes bombed a house adjacent to the Abu Samra roundabout in Deir al-Balah, while military bulldozers carried out extensive leveling operations in the Rafah area early Thursday under the cover of heavy tank fire. In the northern Gaza Strip, demolition work was reported alongside intense machine-gun fire from military vehicles positioned east of Jabalia.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that over the past 24 hours, hospitals have received two fatalities and 29 wounded individuals. According to the Ministry’s latest figures, the death toll since the ceasefire took effect on October 11 stands at 1,209 martyrs and 3,943 wounded, alongside the recovery of 803 bodies from the rubble. Cumulatively, since the war erupted on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian death toll has reached 73,335, with 174,052 people injured—a grim testament to the unrelenting intensity of the ongoing military campaign.
