IRGC Launches Ballistic Missiles on US Targets in Jordan, Intercepts Trespassing Oil Tankers in Hormuz

Missile launched as part of Iran's IRGC retaliatory strike targeting US bases in the region (July 2026).

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched a ballistic missile strike on US military targets in Jordan and intercepted three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that both operations were part of a broader response to ongoing American “hostile actions.”

The IRGC Aerospace Force announced that it fired several ballistic missiles at a US air base and Central Command headquarters in Jordan.

““In response to the aggressive actions of the child-killing US military, the brave fighters of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force launched several ballistic missiles at a US airbase and the US military’s Central Command’s headquarters in Jordan,” the Corps said in a statement in early Wednesday.

“As long as the threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran persist… the resistance will also continue,” the statement read, adding that “the threats and illegal interventions of US officials against our interests must cease.”

Oil Tankers Intercepted

In a parallel development, the IRGC Navy said it struck three oil tankers and forced them to halt after they “ignored our warnings and continued to sail in an unsafe and illegal route.”

The naval force warned that “illegal interventions, orders, and instructions issued by the US military to ships in the region will not go unanswered.”

Iran warned that in no way will we allow America, as a foreign power outside the region, to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz (Gallo Images).

The US has committed repeated violations of Iranian territory since April 7, with the Islamic Republic accusing Washington of continuing hostile actions despite a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed last month and called for a halt to aggression on all fronts.

As stipulated in the MoU, Iran designated a maritime route for safe and legal passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The US has, however, been trying to help ships evade the route by seeking to escort trespassing vessels through another passageway, in another violation of the MoU.

Iran’s Armed Forces have staged uncompromising retaliation in the face of each instance of violation, through attacking US sites across the region, where attacks on Iranian territories have being launched and through intercepting trespassing vessels.
