Yemeni Forces Down Saudi-Owned Bayraktar Drone Over Al-Jawf, Pledge to Protect Sovereignty

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Saturday the successful interception and shootdown of a Turkish-made Bayraktar Akinci armed reconnaissance drone belonging to Saudi forces, which was conducting hostile operations in the airspace of Al-Jawf Governorate.

A military spokesperson confirmed that the unmanned aerial vehicle was targeted and destroyed using “appropriate weaponry,” though no further details were provided regarding the specific munitions employed in the operation.

In an official statement following the downing, the Yemeni military underscored its unwavering commitment to national sovereignty, vowing to confront any attempt to violate the country’s airspace or territorial integrity. The armed forces reiterated that they possess the full capabilities and resources necessary to repel all forms of aggression, adding “God willing” to their affirmation of defensive readiness.

The Bayraktar Akinci, a high-altitude, long-endurance drone manufactured by Turkey’s Baykar, represents one of the more advanced platforms in the Saudi-led coalition’s reconnaissance arsenal.
