In a fiery address at a memorial service for a fallen Hezbollah commander’s son, senior Lebanese parliamentarian Hassan Fadlallah has vehemently rejected claims of Israeli withdrawal from occupied southern territories, accusing the government of orchestrating a “fabricated achievement” while dancing on the blood of martyrs.
Speaking at the Imam al-Mujtaba complex in Saint Therese during a commemoration for the late Sheikh Muhammad Baqir Ali Karaki, Fadlallah, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, dismissed recent Lebanese army deployments as nothing more than reinforcement of positions in villages the enemy “was unable to occupy thanks to the blood of our martyrs and the sacrifices of our resistance fighters.”
The MP’s remarks come amid heightened regional tensions following the ceasefire agreement, which Fadlallah insists has produced no tangible territorial gains for Lebanon.
‘No Withdrawal, Only Fabrication’
“What occurred was the reinforcement of the Lebanese army’s presence in liberated villages and towns,” Fadlallah declared. “The army can deploy among its own people and strengthen its presence, and no one can prevent it from doing so.”
He pointed to an incident in Zawtar al-Gharbiya, where the Lebanese army’s attempt to advance beyond liberated borders was met with hostile fire from Israeli forces. Fadlallah condemned what he described as “official Lebanese silence” while the enemy brazenly claimed the army had advanced a mere 100 meters.
“The Lebanese army is operating on Lebanese soil, and the enemy army is the occupying force,” he emphasized. “What happened in Zawtar al-Gharbiya did not involve any Israeli withdrawal.”
Fadlallah accused the government of exploiting the situation with “media stunts that change nothing on the ground,” suggesting the administration was seeking to present a “fictitious achievement” to the Lebanese public.
Framework Agreement ‘Deceives No One’
The parliamentarian dismissed the framework agreement as having failed to secure any Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories, warning Lebanese citizens against being deceived into believing it brought any national achievement.
“If anyone claims to have achieved something, we are ready to acknowledge it as such,” Fadlallah stated. “However, this authority is acting on the basis of legitimizing the Israeli occupation and its continued presence, and linking Israeli withdrawal to the disarmament of the resistance.”
Warning Against Disarmament Efforts
In a direct challenge to the government’s approach, Fadlallah dismissed commitments made to the United States regarding resistance disarmament as “worthless illusions.”
“Those who offer commitments to the United States and plans to disarm this resistance are merely selling illusions to the American administration,” he said. “The enemy tried with brute force to disarm this resistance and failed. Do you think a few individuals in power will be able to disarm it?”
He questioned the realism of those “in denial of reality,” asserting that the resistance remains a “national necessity and imperative.”
“Our resistance is a national necessity and imperative, and we will remain committed to it until we liberate our land, protect our country, and honor the blood of our martyrs,” Fadlallah affirmed.
Warning Against Internal Strife
The MP cautioned the Lebanese authorities against pushing the country toward internal tensions, accusing them of exerting pressure “in various directions to instigate internal conflict.”
He stressed that Hezbollah is working to avoid such conflict, remaining committed to civil peace, but warned that “no authority in Lebanon will emerge victorious from such actions.”
Fadlallah asserted that Hezbollah’s restraint should not be mistaken for weakness or retreat, noting that “some officials in their palaces mistakenly believe that the resistance movement has weakened and that
“Our patience and restraint are exercised to the extent necessary to protect the resistance and the sacrifices of its youth, and also to the extent that it prioritizes the interests of the country,” he explained.
Regional Umbrella and Iran Agreement
Looking to the broader regional landscape, Fadlallah expressed confidence in a “regional umbrella” taking shape despite ongoing American military actions.
“No matter how long the attacks last, the Americans will return to the agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the first clause in that agreement is Lebanon,” he asserted. “We are confident in the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran, such that there will be no regional agreement, and there will be no final agreement without the complete withdrawal of the Israeli enemy from our land.”
Fadlallah concluded by emphasizing Hezbollah’s reliance on God, the will and steadfastness of the Lebanese people, and the resistance’s “constant presence and continuity in the field.”
The memorial service was attended by scholars, activists, prominent figures, families of martyrs, and local residents, honoring the late Sheikh Muhammad Baqir Ali Karaki, son of the late jihadist commander Haj Ali Karaki “Abu al-Fadl.”
