Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday a new retaliatory missile and drone strike targeting US military installations in Jordan.
In a statement, the IRGC said the attack was part of the “25th wave of Operation Nasr 2,” describing it as a response to the enemy’s aggression. It said strikes targeted King Faisal and Prince Hassan air bases, including “the F-15 fighter jet preparation hangar” and facilities used to prepare drones and helicopters.
The IRGC said “eight brand-new MQ-9 drones were destroyed, and two others on the ground were severely damaged,” adding that “two American heavy helicopters sustained significant damage.” It also said the strike hit an accommodation center for US forces, adding that “a number of them were killed and wounded.”
The statement framed the operation as part of a continued campaign, saying “the process of punishing the aggressor continues,” and warning that further escalation could follow if attacks persist. It added that Iran is “preparing for a remorseful operation” should its responses prove insufficient.
The IRGC said the strike was carried out under the slogan “Ya Hassan ibn Ali” and dedicated to martyrs of US Feb. 28 attack on Minab primary school, where 168 children lost their lives and funeral ceremonies were held Wednesday for the remains of 32 girls.
