The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has praised massive nationwide rallies in support of the Islamic Republic, declaring the historic turnout foiled enemy plots to destabilize the country through domestic agents.
In a message to the Iranian public on Monday, following rallies where participants condemned foreign-linked riots and reaffirmed their support, Imam Khamenei stated: “Noble Iranian nation, today you accomplished a great task and marked a historic day. These massive gatherings, filled with firm resolve, foiled the plot of foreign enemies that was to be carried out by domestic mercenaries.”
He added that the demonstrations displayed the nation’s “determination and identity” to its adversaries and served as a warning to U.S. officials “to end their deceit and stop relying on treacherous mercenaries.” Describing the Iranian people as “strong, powerful, and aware,” the Leader said they remain present and vigilant in times of crisis.
Iranians from all walks of life participated in the nationwide rallies on Monday to denounce recent foreign-backed unrest and demonstrate unwavering support for the Islamic Republic. The rallies, held across most provinces including Tehran, generally took place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, though some provinces commenced as early as 9:00 a.m.
Officials described the demonstrations as irrefutable evidence of national unity and solidarity in the face of enemy attempts to sow chaos and division through mercenaries and terrorists.
The rallies follow a period of unrest last month, where initial peaceful protests by some shopkeepers over economic issues were steered toward violence. Authorities assert this shift occurred after public statements by U.S. and Israeli regime figures—amplified by Israeli-linked Persian-language outlets—encouraged vandalism and disorder.
While acknowledging the legitimacy of economic grievances, which are linked to unilateral U.S. sanctions targeting Iran’s central bank and oil exports, officials have denounced foreign-backed elements for exploiting public discontent. Security and judicial bodies report dismantling several armed cells and arresting foreign-linked operatives, including alleged agents of the Israeli spy agency Mossad, during the recent unrest.
Imam Khamenei said on Friday that the Islamic Republic “will not back down against vandals” and will not tolerate those acting as agents of foreign powers. Echoing this sentiment, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated in a Sunday television interview that the nation must not allow rioters to foment insecurity, emphasizing the critical distinction between lawful protest and violent rioting.
