Al-Rasoul Al-Aazam Hospital (PBUH) Launches Latest Global Technology for Treating Atrial Fibrillation with Pulse Field Ablation (PFA)

In a new medical achievement that reflects its commitment to keeping pace with the latest advancements in global medicine, Al-Rasoul Al-Aazam Hospital (PBUH) – Beirut Heart Center announced the launch of Pulsed Field Ablation – PFA, the newest technology used worldwide for treating Atrial Fibrillation, the most common heart rhythm disorder, which is associated with an increased risk of stroke and heart failure if not treated properly.

The introduction of this technology represents a major leap in cardiac arrhythmia treatment services. It relies on ultra-fast electrical pulses that create precise changes in the cells causing the rhythm disorder through a mechanism scientifically known as Irreversible Electroporation. Unlike traditional ablation techniques, it does not require the use of heat or cold.

PFA technology is distinguished by its ability to precisely target the heart muscle cells responsible for the rhythm disorder, while largely preserving surrounding tissues such as the esophagus, phrenic nerve, and blood vessels. This helps reduce the likelihood of complications associated with traditional ablation and provides the patient with a higher level of safety during the procedure.

The technology also helps shorten the duration of the catheter-based procedure, accelerate recovery time, and enable the patient to return to daily activities sooner, while maintaining the high success rates demonstrated by recent clinical studies in treating Atrial Fibrillation.

These procedures are performed at the Beirut Heart Center using the latest generation Pulsed Field Ablation devices, under the supervision of a specialized cardiac electrophysiology team headed by Dr. Ali Rabah, and within an integrated medical and nursing team committed to the latest global scientific protocols and standards.

Al-Rasoul Al-Aazam Hospital (PBUH) affirms that the introduction of this technology falls within its ongoing strategy to provide the latest therapeutic solutions and invest in advanced medical technology. This enhances the quality of healthcare and gives patients in Lebanon the opportunity to benefit from the latest global innovations in heart disease treatment within their own country.
