Mohammad Reza Aref, the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said Monday that the nation’s rightful demand to punish the terrorist killers, raised during today’s historic funeral procession, is a sovereign duty that will be achieved through strategic rationality.
In a post on his social media account, Aref wrote, “The nation’s rightful demand to punish the terrorist killers, raised during today’s historic funeral procession, is a legitimate demand consistent with international principles of self-defense.”
He added that securing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to the definitive punishment of those responsible for this crime is a sovereign duty that will be achieved through strategic rationality.
Millions of Iranians took part in the farewell and funeral processions for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, with the punishment of those responsible for his killing emerging as a central demand voiced by mourners throughout the proceedings.
Ayatollah Khamenei attained the exalted status of martyrdom on February 28 following criminal attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime on the first day of their joint war of aggression against Iran.
