The evacuation operation of militants from Wadi Barada in Damascus countryside has been completed on Monday, a day after the Syrian army announced the area was secured.
Syrian sources told al-Manar that 1142 militants were evacuated from Wadi Barada, along with 760 people from their families. They were transferred to Idlib, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, the militants in Barada barrens who are willing to join the evacuated terrorists are gathering in Harirah area, the sources said, noting that the snow is hampering the operation.
Earlier on Sunday, the General Command of the Syrian Armed Forces announced that security and stability were restored to the towns and villages in Wadi Barada area in the western countryside of Damascus, “after a series of successful military operations.”
Also on Sunday maintenance workshops enter Ain al-Fija Spring in Wadi Barada to rehabilitate facility for the awaited re-pumping of water to Damascus.
Controlling Wadi Barada towns is of much importance since the main water facility in Ain al-Fija town supplies the Damascus province with drinking water.
