President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, followed up on available data concerning the oil spill from an Israeli ship on the shores of occupied territories. The President also followed on measures which must be taken to limit its negative impact on the Lebanese coast, especially after the appearance of sporadic black spots, on the southern coast of Ramle Al-Bayda.
Moreover, President Aoun stressed the need to conduct a comprehensive survey of Lebanese territorial waters, from South to North, to search for any contaminated spots, as well as inspect the Lebanese coast for the same purpose to determine the damage and work to address it.
An Israeli ship was behind an oil spill that drenched much of its Mediterranean shoreline with tar, according to media reports which added that it would take months or years to clean up.
